ArtOpening: 21 May 2026
From 22 May 2026 to 26 May 2026
Majal Space — 535 Pasteur, Beirut
Fragments of a city, fragments of a life… a life fragmented by war.
Wandering through places, streets, landmarks as fragile as paper—a souvenir, a dream.
Through illustration and miniature collage, Choghig works with paper and cardboard, cut into small, delicate fragments. This fragile materiality echoes the city itself and its vulnerability. Beirut appears both fragile and alive. Her work brings attention to its architecture, its streets, and the quiet stories held within them. The subtle shifts that shape Beirut’s identity over time emerge through careful, intimate reconstruction, revealing a layered city in constant transformation, where memory and change coexist.
Choghig is an Armenian Lebanese illustrator and art teacher based in Beirut, with over three decades of experience in art education. Active in the Lebanese comics scene, she participated between the 1990s and early 2000s in international exhibitions such as the Festival de BD d’Angoulême, as well as collective exhibitions in Lebanon including Nafas. After many years dedicated to teaching and evolving her practice, Fragments marks her first exhibition in years.
