Hamra and its main street reflect the true face of Beirut and the state of the country at any given time—flourishing during times of stability and economic prosperity, and declining during times of destruction, war, chaos, and stagnation. This is clearly illustrated through a selection of photographs from the As-Safir newspaper archives, telling the story of Hamra Street between 1974 and 2016, making it a true mirror of the country.
