The American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC) and TAP (Temporary Art Platform) would like to invite you to the unveiling of six artworks commissioned for the hospital in 2017 coinciding with the Art Explora program Breath is Tide taking place in Beirut between 22-24 May, 2025

10:00 AM | Opening with Dr. Fadlo Khuri (AUB), Dr. Ali Taher (AUBMC), and Amanda Abi Khalil (TAP, curator)

10:30 AM | Film by Zeina Aboul-Hosn

11:00 AM | Panel: "What can art do in hospitals" in the presence of the curators, the artists, and Dr. Joelle Abi Rached. The panel is in collaboration with the Program on Medical History, Ethics & Politics

12:00 PM | Tour of the artworks

In 2017, TAP commissioned Tamara Al-Samerraei, Catherine Cattaruzza, Hatem Imam, Lara Tabet, Rayya and Zeina Badran, Nadim Mishlawi and Sharif Sehnaoui to reflect on the different understandings of the medical center space; on the sounds that inhabit it, the people that infiltrate it, and the bodies that constitute it. Today, we are happy to finally unveil the artworks.
